Oops! I should no better than to be so presumptuous in Africa -- the hospital, upon further reflection, decided that they would not directly bill the insurance company, but needs full payment in advance. That will take a little while to gather, so for now I continue to enjoy a world illuminated with softer, warmer light than is experienced by most. Not ALL bad. I appreciate your prayers, especially for grace to read in the meantime. (Soft, warm, fuzzy light is not all good, either.)

At the cheaper hospital, and depending on the exchange rate, just shy of $1,000/eye. At the more expensive hospital (new equipment, closer) it is about $1,500. It is not so hard, here, to find much to be thankful for. Even with the cataracts there are a great many people all around me who would trade places with me in a heartbeat. A few weeks waiting is really no big deal in the grand scheme of things, or even in my only small little scheme of things.
