A great deal has happened in just one full week in South Africa. Rev. Ruth is in touch with many ministry activities in Rustenburg, including a project called “Graceoutreach” that feeds the poor and homeless, and is expanding to include housing and job training. The pictures show a Graceoutreach feeding program that goes on every Wednesday morning.

I was delighted to learn that, after more than 100 years of division, many churches in Rustenburg are now coming together for spiritual growth, both individually and all together, via study of the book “The Purpose Driven Life”. I had the idea of writing a daily devotional for this 40 day project (almost no one could afford to buy the devotional written by Rick Warren – they struggle just to buy the book). The idea has been adopted by the organizers of the project, who will translate the devotionals into Afrikaans and distribute them to all the participating ministers.

Finally, after several days of extreme heat, a front arrived that has brought three days of rain and very cool temperatures.  Many here are trusting that the rain is a sign of the coming of an outpouring of God’s Spirit. Please pray that this is so!

The food is prepared in the founding Dutch Reformed Church in Rustenburg and served there, and also taken to a large hospital/clinic and served to those who wait there, often for a day or more, to see a doctor.
